History and presentation of activity
Public Institution Atvirosios
fotografijos dirbtuvės (Open
Photography Workshops) was founded
in 2009 and sought to expand
accessibility of old photography in
Lithuania and promote social
integration involving technologies
of photography. Lately it actively
engaged in making popular old
photography processes and their
presenting to society.
To achieve the goal analogical
photo laboratory was set up in 2010.
Presently the laboratory is located
in premises of Vilnius College of
Design on partnership basis. In the
laboratory professional equipment
for film development and photo
printing is installed and big
collection of cameras and other old
photo equipment is cumulated.
AFD (OPW) is a team of the fold
that comes together to learn,
explore and make popular analogical,
old and alternative photography
processes. We are successful in
that: in the last two years number
of invitations to various creative
workshops, private and public
celebrations rapidly increases for
not only demonstration of analogical
photography but also making photos
by it live.
We seek further exploration of
ancient processes and helping
photography amateurs and
professionals to use those processes
in their creation works.
The processes cherished by AFD
(OPW) are applied also in formal and
informal education, we are invited
to various schools in Lithuania and
also cooperate with the initiative
Children Support, association
Society of Parents Support to
Waldorf Education and National
Gallery of Art.
